Kempenfest has again been presented with a top 100 recognition by Festivals and Events Ontario. They recognize and celebrate the many top-notch festivals and events the province of Ontario . The Top 100 Ontario Festivals program acknowledges excellence in the province’s festivals and events industry and the Top 100 designation carries the highest visibility of all of FEO’s awards programs.

Indie bands, such as Marquee Rose, are possible at Kempenfest this summer,
thanks to a Celebrate Ontario grant to expand tourism in the Barrie
market. "The grant enables us to invite indie bands to attract 18 to 35
year-olds to the event," said ...Aikens said the funding also allowed them to increase the size of the venues, from one 500 member audience to two stages with 4,000 at the OLG Main Stage and 1,000 at the MacLaren Oasis near Centennial Beach.
