The County of Simcoe ( Simcoe County) comprises eighteen towns and townships with the municipalities of the Towns of Bradford West Gwillimbury, Collingwood, Innisfil, Midland, New Tecumseth, Pentanguishene, Wasaga Beach and Townships of Adjala-Tosorontio, Clearview, Essa, Oro-Medonte, Ramara, Severn, Springwater, Tay and Tiny, plus Cities of Barrie and Orillia, Simcoe County encompasses the area between Georgian Bay and Lake Simcoe.
The area between Georgian Bay and Lake Simcoe is often defined as Historic Huronia and in the winter is associated with the Barrie Snowbelt. Simcoe County was the site of the earliest European exploration and settlement
of Ontario. Several historic sites, including Carhagouha and Sainte-Marie
among the Hurons, mark the earliest known contacts between the area's
traditional Huron population and European missionaries. The Huron capital,
was at one time the largest aboriginal settlement in all of North America.

Classic aircraft event takes off August 6
EDENVALE - Barrie Advance. A satellite training site for pilots during the Second World War, the Edenvale Aerodrome returns to its roots again with the Gathering of the Classics Aug. 6.
