"Ontario Travel North of Toronto" Supports Canada's National Tourism Week

Barrie Ontario.......June 1, 2011 Tourism Week, the week of June 6-12  2011 is in support of Canada's Tourism and Travel Industry--one of Canada's most significant contributors to the economy.   To celebrate this "Ontario Travel North of Toronto" has focused attention on  Tourism Week getaway packages in a dozen destinations that can be easily accessed via Highway 400 and Highway 11.  Explore Ontario spring road trips during Tourism week with some travel bargains where visitors will contribute to the Ontario economy.

Ontario destination resorts offer up getaways for an Ontario road trip in Collingwood-Blue Mountain, Huntsville,  Muskoka,  Sudbury, Barry's Bay, Horseshoe Valley, Haliburton, the Historic Trent-Severn, Algonquin Area, and Georgian Bay region.

Ontario Travel Information Centres across the province will open their doors and feature travel-related displays and a series of special events leading up to and during Tourism Week. The displays and events are designed to help promote the industry and all that Ontario has to offer travellers this summer and all year round. A number of Ontario Travel Information Centres will be offering up prizes for Ontario Getaways.

The Ontario Travel Information Centre off of Highway 400 in Barrie  at Mapleview Dr. will host a special kick-off event on Thursday June 2 at 10:00 a.m. The concept of  "National Tourism Week" is sponsored by Travel Industry Association of Canada TIAC.
