Bethany Houghton and a Very Special Cello ... August 18 (4:15 to 5:15 pm)
This performance will be very meaningful as Bethany will be playing a cello that she made at the Haliburton School of the Arts. Having played the cello since the age of four, her accomplishments include being a member of the Young Artist's Performance Academy in Toronto and playing with the Mississauga Symphony Orchestra and the North York Philharmonic. She has played on many locally produced CDs and has performed throughout Ontario. Her other instruments include the violin, viola, mandolin and the banjo, all of which she teaches out of her studio in the village of Haliburton. Bethany worked for seven years with Philip Davis in Toronto, learning the art of Luthierie (stringed instrument making and repair) and has now built five stringed instruments. For more information on Bethany Houghton or to find pictures and recordings, visit her web site.
