The Briars Resort & Spa
Golf has been a Briars tradition since 1922, when Stanley Thompson, Canada's premier golf course architect, designed the original 9-hole course. In 1971, under the direction of notable course designer, C.E. "Robbie" Robinson, the golf course was expanded to 18 holes. Resort guests enjoy golfing privileges at the Briars Golf Club, one of Ontario's finest private clubs. This well manicured, "subtle and attractive lay-out winds through cedar hedging, century old evergreens and graceful birch stands." Golfers will discover plentiful water hazards, well protected greens and magnificent Black River vistas. At The Briars Resort, we invite you to enjoy golf the way it was meant to be... then kick back and enjoy our spa, private waterfront, fine dining and beautiful accommodations. |

Deerhurst Resort
Deerhurst Resort has come a long way since the days when guests were shuttled by boat to the local 9-hole golf course on Pennisula Lake.Today, this renowned property has blossomed into one of Canada's top-rated golf and resort destinations boasting two 18-hole courses -- the Deerhurst Lakeside and the Deerhurst Highlands -- as well as driving ranges, a practice green and a comprehensive golf academy. Deerhurst Lakeside, the resort's original course, is considered by many to be one of Ontario's hidden gems, and offers a gentle but surprisingly challenging round for all skill levels. Corporate events, beginner and intermediate players, are all suited to this course, and even avid golfers will be challenged should they wish to enjoy a quick round. With nine Par 3's, eight Par 4's and one Par 5, this par 64 course will test every club in your bag. The course is 4596 yards, has a par of 64, and is rated 62.3 with a slope of 112. Deerhurst Highlands is consistantly ranked as one of Canada's best courses. It opened in 1990, and was the first major golf course in Muskoka, setting the stage for the region's transformation into the internationally acclaimed golf destination it is today. Dense woods of maple, oak and pine define its boundaries of play, while creeks, ponds and striking granite outcrops add a rugged ambiance. Each nine consists of five par 4's, two par 3's and two par 5's for a classically well-balanced design. The course is 7011 yards, has a par of 72, and is 75.1 with a slope of 140. |
