Algonquin Park Beaches-Clean & Cool Fresh Water

Algonquin Park provides Beach and Canoeing Opportunities
Throughout the spring, summer and fall months an Ontario road trip through Algonquin Park is a must. One can take a fresh dip at one of the sandy beach areas for a quick swim or rent a canoe for an all Canadian experience. Summer in Ontario's Cottage Country

Ontario Beaches, Cottages and Canoes

Several of the Canadian icons, the cottage, the canoe, and a beach go hand in hand with what may be described as the perfect summer vacation. The need to getaway into cottage country takes many forms for the visitors who do not own a cottage. For example, one can visit the Midland/Penetanquishene area of Ontario and stay in a local motel or hotel, and take advantage of the great beaches at nearby Awenda Provincial Park. See photo's of Awenda in June. Just a bit east of Midland is Victoria Harbour on Georgian Bay close to the trans Canada Trail, and a public beach for day trippers who want to do a little cycling and have a swim in the cool waters of Georgian Bay. Of course there are always getaway packages at cottage resorts, or private rental cottages in areas such as Muskoka and Haliburton.

Ontario Summer Canoe "Road Trip" North

With all of the CBC fuss over Canada's Seven Wonders, it is time to finally put canoeing or kayaking experience into place. I was surprised by the number of callers to CBC who had never been in a canoe.

An ideal trip might involve a trip to Peterborough Ontario and the Canadian Canoe Museum, a paddle along the Trent-Severn, followed by a Drive to Ottawa and the Museum of Civilization to see the largest (longest canoe in Canada);
Or, just get out to a lakeside resort or cottage and take your family canoeing and paddling this summer. Experience one of the many canoe and kayak getaways north in Ontario.

See more information on Canada’s Icon-The Canoe.
