Ontario Travel Road Trips-Highway 60 North to Ottawa
Wilno Ontario
A road trip into the Algonquin Park region of Ontario will take most visitors across Highway
60 running from Huntsville through Algonquin Park and into the Ottawa Valley. One of Canada's unique communities is the Ottawa Valley town of Wilno-Canada's first Polish Settlement. Please slow down and take a moment to savour the well kept Kaszebe Heritage Park across from the famous Wilno Tavern. The park is steeped in local history dating back to the turn of the century. The major industry was logging and the Ottawa--Parry Sound railroad was operating.
The area in the hills around Barry's Bay and Wilno is famous for Kashubian Floral Paintings on the barns and buildings, and in art work and drawings. The Wilno Tavern, has great Polish dishes and local musical talent provides entertainment throughout the week. Wilno is a short drive East of Barry's Bay.
Accommodation in the Barry's Bay area can be found at Barry's Bay-Combermere resorts.
