Ontario Spring Skiing-End of March Break

Ministry of Tourism is reporting a great start to Spring and Spring Skiing north of Toronto

"It’s the first official day of spring and it is going to be a beautiful sunny, early spring type day with temperatures edging up to around the +4 degrees Celsius mark across ski country. Snow surfaces will start off the day as machine groomed granular snow and turn soft later this afternoon. We can expect a great spring ski weekend on the slopes and trails with temperatures reaching the +4 to +6 degrees Celsius range along with lots of sunshine. We still have a few cross country opportunities available as well; however they are limited to the snow belt areas of central and northern Ontario."

End of March Break--There is still time to take advantage of the many March Break Getaways at resort destinations north of Toronto.

Bird Watching Wildlife Viewing

It is not unusual to spot deer, moose, and a variety of avian species before the foliage starts to fill in. Many would say that the spring is the best time for wildlife viewing. Many of the Provincial and National parks will be re-opening for the Victoria Day Weekend. See Algonquin Park area

Dining-Day or Overnight Trips

Consider a romantic trip or country drive to one of Ontario’s dining experiences in quiet spring romantic atmosphere such as the Millcroft Inn overlooking the falls. See Dining locations north of Toronto

Seasonal Attractions Re-Openings

Spring Drives-road trips north

Road trips north at this time of the year are the best times to view wildlife, as the trees are not in full foliage. It is not unusual to see moose around the Algonquin Park area and deer throughout Ontario. A walk in the woods to see the masses of Ontario’s flower the Trillium blooming is a must for every visitor to Ontario. 400Eleven has assembled nine suggested spring travel routes with directions and places to stay and visit along the route. http://www.400eleven.com/colour-report-spring.html.

The Algonquin Park area has a number of May getaway packages that will appeal to the naturalists and outdoors adventurers who love to hike and canoe, but want to stay in warm comfortable accommodation. http://www.400eleven.com/algonquin-area.html
