Agricultural Tourism--Auto Show Road Trips North


Fall Fairs & Farmers’ Markets & Auto Show Event Highlights Family Travel North of Toronto Barrie, Ontario…..September, 2009. Several unique Canadian events take place on the weekends during September and October. Travelers heading north into cottage country are fortunate to be able to attend some FREE events like Doors Open Ontario, or have the kids admitted free to the Georgian College Auto Show September 25, 26, 27.The Canadian Automotive Institute in Barrie, is hosting the annual Georgian College Outdoor Auto Show, the largest venue of its kind in North America. The Ottawa International Animation festival is held October 14-18. Agricultural enthusiasts with more of an agricultural bent can attend the International Plowing Match in the District of Temiskaming, Earlton Ontario Tuesday Sept. 22 –Saturday Sept. 26, 2009. In addition there are many community fall fairs and harvest festivals with unique fun family activities.

Maple producers can check for new sap flow each day where temperatures warm to around plus 5 C degrees C higher, following freezing nights. Where new sap flow is forecast, try to process previously collected sap from storage tanks as soon as possible to ensure storage for additional sap is available. Ontario Travel 2009 Family Day North of Toronto

When the Ontario Government announced the new Family Day last year it coincided with one of the busiest winter carnival and fun festival event months in Ontario. Residents gain an extra long weekend for a much deserved family getaway vacation. The planning was strategic as the Monday holiday; the third Monday of February (February 16, 2009) coincides with, the beginning of Ontario Heritage Week (February 16-22) and Canada Heritage Day.
