Many call this the May 24 weekend (anything to do with Ontario's first beer bash--Beer stops going north?), even though the official holiday is not always on the 24th. This year Monday May 19 is the holiday.

Memorial Day is officiallly held Monday May 26, 2008. Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in the service of the United States. (equivalent to Canada's Rememberance Day on November 11)

Simcoe Day is the Civic Holiday in Canada. The intent of the Civic Holiday is to "not work" and have fun. So please don't work on the Civic Holiday! In Canada Civic Holiday is in most cases the first Monday of August and was originally a "Toronto only" holiday to celebrate Simcoe Day, in honour of the first Lieutenant-Governor of Upper Canada. It might be appropriae to visit Lake Simcoe north of Toronto on this holiday weekend.

Ontario's Family Day-February 16, 2009 Ontario's Family Day-February 16, 2009 Ontario's new winter vacation holiday will provide a long weekend opportunity in the peak of Ontario's winter.
