A walk in the park: Midland Free Press: In 2011 Parks Canada celebrates its 100th anniversary as the world's oldest ... and turtles in such a small area with a rich overlay of cultural heritage. While most visitors are only familiar with the largest island in the park, Beausoleil Island, there are actually 63 islands comprising the park, stretching in a 50 km string from Twelve Mile Bay in the north to Centennial Island, south of Honey Harbour with a scattering of out islands as well.

Government of Canada to Offer a Pass to National Parks and National Historic Sites for Expropriated People and Their Descendents
Parks Canada announced that people expropriated from national parks and national historic sites and their children and grandchildren will have free access to areas of personal or family significance at the park or site.

Canada's National Parks Celebrates 100 Years
Parks Canada celebrates the 100 year centennial in 2011. A number of special events activities, and commemorative stamps will be featured. Canada Heritage Day has a theme featuring National Parks and Landscapes.
Park Admission Remains Good Value at National Parks
Parks Canada entry fees, camping at national parks, lockage and mooring at historic canals and several other national fees for basic services are frozen This price freeze will help the tourism industry and local economies – and help more Canadians experience our treasured natural and historic places. For the general public, 2008 prices are in effect until April 1, 2011. For commercial groups, 2009 prices are in effect until April 1, 2012. More information on Parks Canada Fees

National Parks on Georgian Bay Free on Canada Day and National Parks Day
"Come celebrate Canada's birthday and the 125th birthday of our national parks by spending some time in the unforgettable places that showcase Canada at its best ― for free!," is the message to Canadians from The Honourable Jim Prentice, Minister of the Environment and Minister responsible for Parks Canada.On both Canada Day (July 1) and Canada's Parks Day (July 17), Parks Canada is welcoming Canadians to their national parks, national historic sites and national marine conservation areas with doors open and free entry.
New Free Parks Canada Pass Program for Grade 8 students
The My Parks Pass program is distributing free passes to grade 8 students this month for Canada National Parks and National Historic Sites. Nature Canada is working with Parks Canada and the Historica-Dominion Institute to create these opportunities for youth to experience nature first-hand. Several National Parks are listed below.
