  • 2014 is the10th year for Blue Flag designations.  Clean beaches and clean water makes for great family vacation fun. According to Blue Flag reports over the past few years Ontario has some of the best beaches, and many of those fresh water beaches are rated as Blue Flag Beaches
  • Watch for 'No Watercraft Zone' and 'No Wake Zone' proposed for Kincardine's Station Beach in wake of Blue Flag inspection. Waubuno Beach  in Parry Sound on the shores of beautiful eastern Georgian Bay is being considered.

Ontario and the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) have signed an agreement to continue vital freshwater research at the Experimental Lakes Area -- the only freshwater research facility of its kind in the world. This has significant long term research on water quality that will benefit the travel and tourism industry water sports such as fishing and recreational swimming and beach enjoyment.  See water research story
