Nestled between Lake Couchiching and Lake Simcoe,
Orillia is easily accessible off of Highway 11 or Highway 12 north of
Barrie. The Port of Orillia has excellent docking facilites for boaters
travelling along the Historic Trent-Severn
Waterway. Orillia personalities include Steven Leacock (Sunshine City)
and Canadian icon Gordon Lightfoot.
Orillia is one of Ontario's historically significant resort destinations
dating back to Samuel de Champlain's exploration of Simcoe County area
in 1615. A magnificent Champlain
Statue sits in Tudhope Park, Towns close to Midland include Barrie
to the South, Coldwater and Midland to the west and Muskoka to the North.
