In January, 2008, The Millcroft Inn & Spa took a
large step toward its goal to position itself as a wellness destination
when it launched a Four-Day
Naturopathic Detox Getaway (http://www.millcroft.com/spa.html).
This package was developed via a partnership between The Millcroft
Inn & Spa and Orangeville-based Dr. Wendy Davis, N.D. of Harmony
Health Naturopathic Clinic. It’s purpose is to help people who
are motivated to take control of their health by providing an assessment
of their current state of wellness – which is determined by
Dr. Davis – and then educating them on how to make short-term
and long-term improvements to their well being.
The getaway includes private pre and post-program consultations
with Dr. Davis (to assess current health status and measure improvement
throughout the program), a customized itinerary of detoxifying spa
treatments and activities – based on one’s particular
health status, a daily menu of detoxifying gourmet meals and snacks,
and four (4) restful nights of accommodation. The meals and the Spa
treatments are specially selected to ‘kick-start’ the
body’s natural toxin-ridding abilities, while relaxing the body
and mind – thereby lowering stress levels.
Guests
who participate in this program also receive a personalized binder
that includes a daily itinerary, a list of benefits of various spa
treatments, recipes and other information to help guide him/her down
the path to better health after the program is complete.
Due to the fact that this program was developed with
and is supervised by a medical professional (and that it is customized
to individual needs, includes detoxifying gourmet cuisine and places
a strong emphasis on educating participants on how to improve their
health) it is the first and only detox program of its kind in Ontario
– and one of a select few available in Canada.
