Ontario Travel Tourism NewsGeorgian College Auto Show moves to JuneAutomotive buffs young and old have an extraordinary event to look forward to in June, with the presentation of the 26th annual Georgian College Auto Show. The annual auto show, normally held in the fall each year, is moving to June (June 3, 4, 5).
“This move will allow us to make better use of space on college property,” says Stephanie Titus, Director, Media Relations for the 2011 Auto Show Committee. “We also hope to take advantage of warmer weather. Our theme this year is Change, Adapt, Imagine and we are looking forward to the new season for our show, adapting to the change, and imagining the possibilities it will present for us.” Billed as the “largest outdoor, student-run auto show in North America,” the Georgian College Auto Show attracts 20,000-plus visitors each year from across southern Ontario. Organized by students attending Georgian’s CAI at the Barrie Campus, the show has something for everyone – from the classic car fan, to the high-powered sports car enthusiast, to the couple looking for the perfect new family vehicle. Two professional drivers will be on hand to spin brave participants around a wet Pfaff Porsche Test Track in Porsche 911s, for a small donation to charity. The young and young-at-heart will also enjoy KidZone, an interactive entertainment area for children and families. The show will also feature classic cars, informative car care clinics, live music and exotics. Visitors can meet professional race car driver Kyle Marcelli who will be signing autographs at special times throughout the weekend. An auction, featuring items donated by car manufacturers and local businesses, will also be held on June 5 at 1 p.m. The show opens Friday, June 3 with new extended hours from 12 to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Daily admission is $7 for adults and free for kids 12 and younger. A special weekend rate of $15/person has also been added this year. Parking is included with admission.
