Sudbury Residents Love Shopping in Midland

Little Lake Inn, Midland, OntarioMidland, Ontario. December, 2007:
When guests stay at Midland’s AAA Three Diamond Inn, Owner Jennifer Hart plays the role of hotel concierge, Chamber of Commerce booster, and downtown shopping enthusiast, dining advisor, housekeeper, gardener and sometimes Midland area tour guide. Hart’s enthusiasm about Midland and Southern Georgian Bay is infectious when it comes to attracting new visitors and bringing back repeat visitors to the busy quaint four-room-inn on Yonge Street.

Recently the Little Lake Inn Bed & Breakfast was host to a group of friends from Sudbury who came to Midland to shop for their Christmas and seasonal gifts.

This event started when Sandra Lea, a Sudbury resident came to town to visit her parents 10 years ago. What was a solitary visit has evolved into an annual girls’ getaway weekend with many of Lea’s friends. Lea eventually moved to Midland last year, however the weekend shopping ritual lives on with her friends who still live in Sudbury.

Now as an ‘advance shopper’ living in Midland, Lea - scouts out who is open late, or open on Sunday. Lea makes the itinerary out for the weekend - two days of shopping for Christmas. Lea says, “They 'just love the area, especially our main street', and 'go nuts' when they are here, 'so many unique stores and really original gifts'. The group especially like all the little home decor stores and gift shops.”

“Each year we have an evening meal at a local restaurant and then do the shopping the next day.” says Lea. “The group loved the charm of the Little Lake Inn Bed and Breakfast and the beautiful lounge area for sitting and chatting after dinner….and close to downtown.” Over the years the Sudbury group has dined at the Explorer’s Café, the Riv Bistro, Serendipity, and the Arch restaurant.

“This year the group traveled in two cars, and it was a good thing with all of the items the group was taking back. Finding the Little Inn was a real treat, and with the help of hosts Jennifer and Milt all of the information provided made our stay much easier.” All of the shopping was completed in downtown Midland, and Wyebridge in October. The group is planning to return next year.

A great “Girls Shopping Weekend Stay in Midland” adds Lea.
