Ron Sexsmith to headline BarrieFolk: Roots Music Festival

Tickets are now available for the third annual BarrieFolk: Roots MusicFestival to be held on Saturday, November 3. This one-day event will take place at Georgian College, Barrie Campus.

Internationally acclaimed singer/songwriter Ron Sexsmith will headline this year's BarrieFolk: Roots Music Festival.

Sexsmith maps the human heart with surgical skill and great compassion. He offers us hard-earned pieces of wisdom, all set to strong yet gentle melodies and sung unaffectedly, with emotional eloquence and genuine soul. These are his creative signatures, and they have earned the Toronto-based singer/songwriter immense respect from his peers, critics, and a devoted international audience.

Other performers at this year's festival are JP Cormier – one the East Coast's talented treasures, Juno Award winners Lynn Miles and Jenny Whiteley, Chic Gamine (formerly Madrigaia), Mark Reeves, Tucker Finn, Tim Harrison, Kirsten Jones, Michael Laderoute, Treasa Levasseur, Jason Redman, Darcy Lynne Ward, Dale Willis, and Brock Zeman. Two young, local musicians Tyler Firestone and Kendal Thompson will be featured in a special youth showcase.

Tickets can be purchased for $32; seniors (60+) and children under 12 can purchase tickets for a reduced rate of $20. Tickets will be $40 if purchased at the door the day of the festival. Tickets can also be purchased online by visiting www.gryphontheatre.com (please note there is a $2 surcharge).

Tickets can be purchased from the Gryphon Theatre box office that is located at Georgian College, Barrie Campus (first floor, Administrative Centre). Call (705) 728-4613 to purchase with your credit card.

BarrieFolk will retain the same format as last year with afternoon concerts starting at noon in two locations at Georgian College – The Last Class and the Georgian College Theatre. The mainstage evening concert will start at 7pm.
