November 2008 …………………..Jackson’s Point, Ontario. The Briars Resort & Spa invites guests to celebrate a traditional Christmas while embracing today’s “green” lifestyle choices. You can enjoy a memorable holiday retreat at one of Ontario’s premiere resorts with the assurance while knowing all the facilities and services are industry-leading examples of the latest earth friendly innovations. The all-natural experience could include guided country walks and horse drawn sleigh rides plus a bevy of festive indoor events and comforts--all part of The Briars old-fashioned “green” Christmas packages.

The Briars is recognized as the first major resort in Ontario to ban smoking indoors. Their “Green Team”, led by Sheila Maxwell, Director of Food and Beverage and Fitness, continues to come up with new ways to make the resort even more energy efficient and earth friendly. They have replaced 90 percent of the lighting with energy efficient bulbs. Showerheads are super efficient water savers and all the guest and conference rooms are equipped with new recycle bins, which help to maintain four streams of waste and recycling. Bags are used in place of boxes for take-away lunches, and bottled water (previously used during coffee breaks) has been replaced by water jugs. Each of these former items is still available upon request. In addition, the spa only uses all natural, health conscious products.

In 2009, The Briars plans to take further steps in the kitchen by composting all organic waste and introducing solar heated water.
The Briars holiday season is a magical festive time where guests can savour all the delicious meals associated with this celebration of life and family. On New Year’s Eve. The Briars throws a lively bash filled with merriment and good cheer for all. Visit The Briars Resort and Spa website to learn more about the two-three night “Christmas in the Country” packages, the Gala New Year’s Celebration and many other holiday season packages.

This winter wonderland paradise is located conveniently an hour’s drive north of Toronto.

John & Barbara Sibbald, Innkeepers wish everyone “a very merry, very green Christmas and a joyous New Year.”
