Marsh Fall Festival Adds “Rhythms” to Family Outdoor Fun
Midland, Ontario…….September 12, 2007. Ontario’s Wye
Marsh Fall Festival, one of Ontario’s oldest environmental outdoors
festivals in its 22-year, is adding new beats, and new activities for
a full day of family fun and entertainment. “Wye Marsh Rhythm’s
Festival” is a one day event on Saturday September 22 starting at
10:00 a.m. running through until 9:00 p.m. Cost is $25.00 for a family
pass, or $8:00 per person, children 3 and under no charge.
When
the gates open at 10:00 a.m. visitors will have their choice of more than
20 outdoor activities from live music on stage with a variety of local
artists and their upbeat rhythms, face painting for the kids, birds of
prey shows, canoe rides in large voyageur canoes, nature hikes and walks
with guided nature interpretation, the sounds of wild turkey and moose
calling, and several new activities.
Laurie Schutt, Executive Director at the Wye Marsh says “Each year
there are new twists on environmental education and this year the Marsh
will be conducting “Wind Walks” to see the new wind turbines
used to harvest energy for the Marsh, helping to reduce our power costs.”
Many of the favorite activities are the woodcarvers exhibits, the wildflower
gardener’s display, a chance to taste wild game, and the outdoor
barbeque and beer garden. New this year will be a Celtic Dance performed
by the Kempencelts.
“We continue to add family fun to help build environmental
awareness with the visitors to the Wye Marsh. One of the favourite activities
that bring families back every year are the canoe rides in our 9 seat
voyager canoes….everybody gets to paddle at the same time and sometimes
throw their arms up and cheer like our early explorers”, adds Schutt.
