and 'Birds of Prey Show' Ready to Take Off

Midland, Ontario – June 2006 – Starting July 2nd, there will be a Bird of Prey show with flying demonstrations every Sunday from 1:00 p.m to 2:30 p.m. This is an added feature to this years exciting summer line-up of outdoor entertainment and family activities at Ontario's famous Wye Marsh.

Matt Lieberknecht, a master falconer and owner/operator of the Central Ontario School of Falconry will be handling the raptors with the assistance of our staff.

Laurie Schutt, Executive Director at the Wye Marsh states, "Matt will be flying a; Turkey Vulture, Red Tailed Hawk, Barn Owl, Harris Hawk, and a Falcon. These presentations will be free with general admission."

Visitors to the Marsh will see unforgettable flight demonstrations that are both educational and entertaining. These flight shows are enjoyable and fascinating for groups of all ages and interests. Birds of Prey are introduced and flown in simulated hunting flights. Some lucky spectator will have a chance to land a Raptor on their fist. The show will provide a rare opportunity to get a close up view of the magnificent creatures in action!

In addition to the Birds of Prey Show there are themed weeks for each week of the summer, daily kid's camps, and parent and tot programs. New activities for 2006 include CSI Survial Day Camps just for teens plus a 'Behind The Scenes Eco Tour' for early birds, or a twilight tour for those who like to sleep in. "Early morning and early evening are the best times for wildlife viewing," adds Schutt.

Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre is 90 minutes north of Toronto in Midland Ontario and provides one of the best family value day trips in Southern Georgian Bay's Historic Resort Destination.
