Wye Marsh Expands Children’s Summer Day Camps to include teens--Expanded CSI Survival Day Camp and New Counsellors in Training for Teens.


Midland, Ontario. June 2007. Wye Marsh day camps have developed a reputation for inspiring children about the natural world that surrounds us. Many children return year after year starting in Kinder Camp (Ages 4-5), progressing to Day Camp (ages 6-10). Now, those entering their teenage years can take advantage of the new CSI Survival Day Camp (ages 10-16), and the Counsellors in Training (ages 13-16). Each week campers will participate in active games, learn about plants and wildlife, create their own inspired arts and crafts, hike and canoe; see a live bee house demonstration and much more. Fees start at $70.00 for the Kinder Camp (3-days), Day Camp (5-days), and $110.00 per child, CSI Survival Day Camp $150. 00, and Counsellors in Training $120.00. KINDER CAMP
A fun filled experience for young campers aged 4-5. Choose any 3 out of 5 days of the week and sign up for the length of time at that fits your child’s needs and abilities. July 16 – 20 & August 13 – 17.

CSI SURVIAL DAY CAMP
Campers will be exposed to plant and wildlife identification methods, study real animal bones, search and study authentic animal tracks to find evidence and “Solve the Case”. At the same time campers will develop a basic knowledge of wilderness survival skills and learn about the plants and animals in Ontario. July 23-27 & August 20-24.

COUNSELLORS IN TRAINING PROGRAM (CIT)
Each CIT will have a chance to work with our entire camp staff in order to receive a variety of different skills and techniques while working in a camp setting. They will also be exposed to the administrative side of camp while working with the Camp Director. Each interested applicant will be ask to meet with the Camp Director either in person or over the phone for a short interview. Space is limited to 5 participants per week. See theme for the weeks in Day Camp above.

This is an excellent opportunity for young adults to develop work ethics, learn about nature and a great way to spend their time during the summer. A Certificate of Achievement will be given upon satisfactory completion of the program.

Editors’ Note: Camp Marshes and Moccasins is located in the beautiful Wye Valley in the heart of natural Southern Georgian Bay at the Wye Marsh. Wye Marsh is located 35 minutes northwest of Barrie Ontario in the heart of Southern Georgian Bay’s Historic Resort Destination in the Wye Valley, in Midland Ontario. The Centre continues to provide outdoor experiences and environmental education for school groups, scouts and guides, and international visitors. The centre is open year round, seven days a week, allowing seasonal outdoor experiences in the winter, spring, summer and fall.
