Thanksgiving Weekend Hiking Biking & Canoeing at Ontario’s Wye Marsh

Tay Township, Midland Ontario………October 2007. Discover Ontario’s Wye Valley this Thanksgiving Weekend and enjoy a canoe through the marsh or a fall hike through hardwood forest with a backdrop of spectacular fall colours. Guided hikes and canoe excursions will take place 5 times daily throughout the Thanksgving weekend and will continue on weekends in agreeable weather. Guided canoeing and hiking activities are included with the price of admission.

The Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre is linked to the Georgian Bay Trail System and the Ganaraska Trail as well as providing 25 km of trails on site. See Wye Marsh Trail Map http://www.wyemarsh.com/about_trail.html

The new Wye Marsh signage throughout the trails offer opportunities for visitors to take their own self guided trail hike. Interpretative wands with information about the Marsh in English, French, and German are available upon request at no extra charge.

Specialized equipment purchases have made Wye Marsh even more accessible to people with disabilities. The centre is accessible with classrooms, a display hall, 25 km of trails (accessible in all seasons), residential cabins, a marsh boardwalk, and observation blinds.

Biking is available on 20 km of trails on site, or a gentler alternative is the Georgian Bay Shores trail running to Victoria Harbour. Limited bike rentals available on site for an additional fee. Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre is located 35 minutes northwest of Barrie in Tay Township, the heart of Southern Georgian Bay’s Historic Resort Destination near Midland Ontario.

The Centre continues to provide improved outdoor experiences and environmental education for school groups, scouts and guides, as well as local and international visitors. The centre is open year round, seven days a week, allowing seasonal outdoor experiences in the winter, spring, summer and fall.
