Leaf Peepers travel North to see "Outrageous Oranges", "Yummy Yellows", and "Passionate Purples"

Barrie, Ontario…………….September 28, 2006. The best of Ontario's fall colour routes start at Barrie's Highway 400 and Highway 11 interchange 45 minutes north of Toronto, the gateway to Cottage Country. A series of 16 suggested fall colour routes providing visitors with options when travelling into cottage country for the annual display of fall colours.

A variety of day trips or overnight October fall getaway packages are available at resorts and various accommodation properties.

More than 50 overnight packages http://400eleven.com/getaways-october.html include golf, cruises, meals, Thanksgiving dinners, and overnight accommodation. Day trips also include cruises and nature hikes. Chippawa Cottage resort near Algonquin park is offering “Leaf Peeper” flights over the Algonquin Park region.

Packages are available right across the areas north of Toronto including Caledon, Orangeville, the Muskokas, Haliburton, the Algonquin region, North Bay, West Nipissing, Parry Sound.
Overnight routes are within a 1-2 hour drive from the junction of Highway 400 and Highway 11 in Barrie with the exception of the Sault Ste. Marie and Timmins, Route which can take 5-7 hours. Explore the colours of reds, burgundies, oranges and golds along the following routes:

Fall Colour Routes

The Ministry of Tourism for the Province of Ontario is reporting colour changes for the entire Province. The Ministry updates their reports every Tuesday and Thursday until the end of October. The above travel routes provide a quick link to the fall colour report for areas north of Toronto.
