Ontario Cottages & Chalets

Ontario cottage experiences are associated with romance at the lake, summer and winter vacations. Lakeside locations in resort destinations north of Toronto are the preferred setting, however country cottages and chalets beside ski hills are more of a winter preference.  Warm wood burning fireplaces after a cross country ski or snowshoe, or ice fishing  are favourite Ontario signature experiences. A cottage country getaway is unique to Ontario north of Toronto.

The notion of a cottage vacation at a cottage resort can be as luxurious as you could imagine or as basic and rustic as a cabin in the woods. Cottage Country is a 'State of Mind"

Cottage country in Ontario has a distinct image for many who have been associated with the annual summer vacation and the traditional opening of the cottage on the May 24 weekend. Often this image is deeply rooted through several generations.  Grandparents and great grandparents may have built the summer cottage over a century ago. Today however the image has changed as the cottage, or the trip to cottage country takes one to a year round second home.
