We recently loaded up the car with the kids and took off to Scenic Caves Nature Adventures for the day. Located on the Niagara Escarpment in the beautiful Blue Mountains, Scenic Caves is aptly named. From the trails you can literally see for kilometers and kilometers (10,000 sq km to be exact, on a clear day). The view above looks over Southern Georgian Bay and the town of Collingwood.
The views however, aren’t the only thing that Scenic Caves has going on. There are of course caves! The cave trail brings you to several caves and caverns, perfect for exploring especially on a hot summer day. The refrigerator cave, which can still have snow in it in early summer was a welcome pit stop.
If the caves weren’t enough fun (which they are), there is mini putt, gemstone mining, a train and a playground. For older kids and the young at heart there is the twin zip line and eco-tours. This is on our bucket list for our next day trip to the area, maybe in the fall when the kids are back in school and the fall colours are showing.
The twin zip line that takes you down the Blue Mountains for a 1/2 mile of adrenaline pumping views.
Happy travels from your fellow road tripper, Laura of 400 Eleven.
Scenic Caves Nature Adventures is located 2.5 hrs from Toronto.
