Keeping kids busy and having fun on March Break is so easy up north! Don’t tell your kids, but there’s even some learning that happens.

Whether you live in the area or are visiting, there are some great March Break camps this year for kids, so good, they have us wishing there were adults camps too.

Barrie Camps

The Shape of Colour Art Camp at MacLaren Art Centre

March 11 to 15, 2019

Join a regional artist for five days of art-making experimentation and fun inspired by Modern Art! With each camp day focusing on a different colour, participants will be introduced to a variety of professional art materials and techniques in drawing, painting, printmaking and sculpture and more! This camp is the perfect way to make the most of March break! Before and aftercare is available from 8:30 to 9:00 am and from 5:00 to 5:15 pm for an additional $10 per day. Become a member of the Gallery and receive a 10% discount on registration fees.

Collingwood Camps

Camp Cranberry March Break Kids Camps at Living Water Resorts

Monday March 11th – Friday March 15th, 2019 at the Atoka House – Cranberry Golf Course (27B Harbour Street, West, Collingwood ON)

March Break Camp for children ages 4-12 hosts a variety of activities including Art, Science, Drama and Sports. Campers will be completing daily art projects, creating science experiments, playing active games, swimming, cross country skiing and snowshoeing (weather permitting). Pick-up and drop off will be at the Atoka house, but your child(ren) will utilize different specialized areas of the resort, throughout the day, based on the activities scheduled. March Break at Abbey Gardens: Sweet Spring

Tuesday March 12th from 10am-3pm (before/after program care available!)

March is here!  The month where winter meets spring!  Ahh … Sweet Spring … the sun shines longer, plants wake up and animals become more active!  We will spend time inside and outside discovering some of the special things that happen in early spring.  We will snowshoe/hike on forested trails, make and eat bannock and celebrate spring! Come to this fun day of exploring and discover the great outdoors in spring and see how sweet it can be!  Program includes physical activity, snack, craft and led by experienced educator.Suitable for children ages 6-11. Cost is $30 per child. Extended hours available to better accommodate your schedule!  Drop off at 9:00am for an additional $5.00; pick up at 4:00pm for an additional $5.00.

March Break at Abbey Gardens: Kids in the Kitchen

Wednesday March 13th from 10am-3pm (before/after program care available)\

Description: Food is fun … and making it yourself is even more fun!  Join us in the Abbey Gardens kitchen with local chef Aaron Walker and experience just how fun it can be to use your own hands to create delicious delicacies!  We will also take some time to play games and enjoy the great outdoors!  Be sure to bring indoor and outdoor footwear and clothing!  Program includes physical activity, snack and led by experienced educator. This program is suitable for children ages 6-11 and is $30 per child. Extended hours available to better accommodate your schedule!  Drop off at 9:00am for an additional $5.00; pick up at 4:00pm for an additional $5.00.

March Break at Abbey Gardens: Earth’s Treasures

Thursday March 14th from 10am-3pm (before/after program care available)

Come and discover “Earth’s Treasures” through a fun 2-in-1 program.  Spend half of the day with Lisa Barry of Homestead Pottery creating your own personal treasure box from one of Earth’s very own treasures … clay!  Participants will use a variety of hand building techniques to make a fun and celebratory box to hold special treasures.  The other half of the day will be outside exploring nature’s treasures through fun activities and unique sensory adventures!  Come, create and discover …!  Program includes clay fired treasure box (will be fired and returned within 2 weeks of this program), physical activity, snack and led by experienced educators. Cost is $36 per child. Extended hours available to better accommodate your schedule!  Drop off at 9:00am for an additional $5.00; pick up at 4:00pm for an additional $5.00.

March Break at Abbey Gardens: Clay animal creations

Friday March 15th from 10am-12pm (before program care available)

Join Lisa Barry of Homestead Pottery! Enjoy this hands on workshop creating hand built animals out of clay. Participants will explore pinching, rolling and sculpting a clay chicken or pony. This workshop is hands on and each participant will be able to paint and finish an animal with a variety of colours and decorative techniques. Friday March 15th from 10am-12pm. Bring a lunch and register for the afternoon clay session to create a full-day outing. Cost is $30 plus a $6 materials fee. Suitable for children ages 6-11. Extended hours available to better accommodate your schedule!  Drop off at 9:00am for an additional $5.00 for an hour of supervised free play!

March Break at Abbey Gardens: Clay plate creations

Friday March 15th from 1pm-3pm (after program care available)

Join Lisa Barry of Homestead Pottery! This workshop will explore using clay to create a one of a kind porcelain cup or bowl. Students will explore a variety of hand building techniques and decorative possibilities. Each piece will be able to be used and enjoyed for years to come. Work will be fired and returned within 2 weeks of the workshop. Friday March 15th from 1pm-3pm. Cost is $30 plus a $6 materials fee. Bring a lunch and sign up for the morning session making ponies & chickens to create a full-day outing. Extended hours available to better accommodate your schedule!  Pick up at 4pm for an additional $5.00 for an hour of supervised free play!
