En plein air ” in the open air” painting was popularized by the impressionists and was a major shift in how artwork was created at the time. The Group of Seven relied on the ability to get outside and view the Canadian landscape directly, in order to capture the true spirit of the land and you can too.
A demo, some basic instruction in the use of oil paints, and individual help and you will ready to create your own treasured painting of the Minden Whitewater Preserve. Other locations can be arranged as well.
Artist Harvey J Walker started painting over thirty years ago and participated in local shows with a group of artists who met regularly at his home. Over the years, self-employment as a furniture and kitchen designer kept Walkers observation and design skills keen, his creations were three dimensional and painting was reserved for scarce spare time. In 2010, he re-connected to painting and the results showed quickly, wining the “Peoples Choice Award” at the Agnes Jamieson Gallery in Minden. Since then he’s participated in juried, solo and group shows as well as the Scugog Studio Tour in May and the Tour de Forest in Haliburton.
From $79 per person
All oil paint and painting materials, plus the painting you create and get to take home!
Featured Ontario Festivals
This is it! These are them!
Our annual list of Best Festivals, or as we call it around the office “The Bestivals” list.
We pick a new list each year, some are hosted by our advertisers, some festivals we have sponsored and well, some we think are just plain pretty cool.
The list has been assembled keeping in consideration current trends and what people out there really seem to be seeking out. We’ve tried to include events and festivals that might be family focused, adult focused, or both!
