Forest Therapy Walk

November 16 @ 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Abbey Gardens, Haliburton, Haliburton Highlands

Inspired by the Japanese practice of ‘Shinrin-Yoku’ (translated literally as ‘taking in the forest atmosphere’, Forest Therapy (or forest bathing) is a research-based framework for supporting wellness and healing through immersion in nature. This guided, meditative walk has an easy pace and concludes with a tea ceremony and refreshments in the forest. Scientific studies have shown time spent in nature supports the immune and cardiovascular systems as well as increasing creativity and boosting one’s sense of wellbeing. The practice also helps us to remember we are a part of nature, and connected to all beings and the earth. Join Fran Mills for this unique experience on the Abbey Gardens property. Wednesday November 16th 1pm-3:30pm. Meet at the Food Hub building. Cost is $20 per person. Born in the city but drawn to the wild places, Fran has made being in nature her destination of choice. She spent her early days playing along the creeks that ran near her childhood home and after ward, sought out wooded areas where ever she went. A few years of working in the city and fate brought her north to cottage country and eventually to the farm. What was initially a possible change in life direction from many years as a baker, has become her passion. She is a Certified Forest Therapy Guide with the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy and a member of the Global Institute of Forest Therapy. She lives on the edge of the Canadian Shield, tending her 50 acre property, running an Airbnb and inviting willing participants to wander the forest with her.

Featured Ontario Festivals

This is it! These are them!

Our annual list of Best Festivals, or as we call it around the office “The Bestivals” list.

We pick a new list each year, some are hosted by our advertisers, some festivals we have sponsored and well, some we think are just plain pretty cool.

The list has been assembled keeping in consideration current trends and what people out there really seem to be seeking out. We’ve tried to include events and festivals that might be family focused, adult focused, or both!
