Musician Ray Dillard will give a live percussive performance in response to the artwork on view in current exhibition Act Naturally by Jaime Angelopoulos. Inspired by the visuMusician Ray Dillard will give a live percussive performance in response to the artwork on view in current exhibition Act Naturally by Jaime Angelopoulos. Inspired by the visual contrasts in Powers and Hypnos, Ray will create two original compositions that sonically play on the vibrant colours, lines, textures and emotions in these two drawings. A question and answer period will follow the performance.

Texas-born, Toronto/Barrie-based producer/percussionist Ray Dillard received his Bachelors and Masters of Music degrees from West Texas State University. For several years, he was percussionist for the Amarillo Symphony Orchestra and Director of Percussion Studies at West Texas State University. He then served as Guest Lecturer and Instructor of Percussion at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, before becoming the head of Percussion and MIDI Technology at San Jacinto College in Houston, Texas, a position he held until 1998 when he relocated to Toronto. Ray Dillard has toured internationally for over four decades, most notably performing with NEXUS percussion ensemble, Buka and The World Drum Ensemble.

The MacLaren Art Centre will remain open until 8:30 pm on September 28. Preview the exhibitions after work.
