We Know Things To Do in Ontario!

And right now, you need to stay home! There are no events, no getaways, no reason to road trip. Check back later and keep your thoughts set on summer!! Stay safe and stay healthy.

You will never ask “What is happening north of Toronto (and in central and northern Ontario) this weekend”? again! Use our events calendar to find things to do in Ontario and even in Ontario this weekend or in the future. Whether you like to lay low and chill or get your rush from adrenaline-pumping activities and experiences – the calendar has events for everyone, in every season from the Bruce Peninsula to the Ottawa Valley!

Depending on your drive, you’ll find action anywhere from 1 hour away from Toronto to 5. Our events are not limited to highways 400 and 11 either. These are just the first two highway suggestions to travel north and find adventure in Ontario.

Seraphine, Seraphine Film Screening and Artist Talk by Krista Belle Stewart

September 29, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

MacLaren Art Centre

In Seraphine, Seraphine, Vancouver-based artist Krista Belle Stewart layers archival footage with current footage of her subject, her mother Seraphine Stewart, the first Indigenous Public Health nurse in British Columbia. In this two-channel video work, Stewart sheds light on the complexities of the historical representation of Indigenous peoples. Seraphine, Seraphine highlights the profound divergences between history as it is recorded and reality as it is lived. Followed by an artist talk and public discussion.

Krista Belle Stewart holds a BFA from Emily Carr University and a MFA from Bard College in New York. She is a member of the Upper Nicola Band of the Okanagan Nation, and lives and works in Vancouver. Stewart’s recent solo exhibitions include Eye Eye at Franz Kaka (Toronto); Seraphine, Seraphine at Mercer Union (Toronto); and Motion and Moment Always at the Contemporary Art Gallery, Vancouver, which was the culmination of fall 2014 residencies at the Nisga’a Museum and Western Front.
