We Know Things To Do in Ontario!

You will never ask “What is happening north of Toronto (and in central and northern Ontario) this weekend”? again! Use our events calendar to find things to do in Ontario and even in Ontario this weekend or in the future. Whether you like to lay low and chill or get your rush from adrenaline pumping activities and experiences – the calendar has events for everyone, in every season from the Bruce Peninsula to the Ottawa Valley!

Depending on your drive, you’ll find action anywhere from 1 hour away from Toronto to 5. Our events are not limited to highways 400 and 11 either. These are just the first two highway suggestions to travel north and find adventure in Ontario.

Wannabe – A Spice Girls Tribute

May 12 @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm

Midland Cultural Centre

Stop.

Close your eyes.

Take a moment to remember…

Do you recall a time, not so long ago? A time of innocence? A time of simplicity? A time of Dunkaroos, Beanie Babies, bubble chairs, white eye-liner, Ring-Pops, bucket hats and bicycle shorts? Let’s be honest…It’s no secret that the 90’s were by far the most colourful, dynamic and entertaining decade of all. It really felt as though life couldn’t get any better…

Then along came the Spice Girls. It was 1996 when the hit song Wannabe swept the world in a swell of pre-teen, bubble-gum hysteria. Ginger, Baby, Scary, Posh and Sporty became the new faces of pop music and girls (boys too!) everywhere were instant fans! With 65 million records sold world-wide, the Spice girls became the best selling girl-group of all time. It was total Spice-Mania!

Fast forward twenty years or so, and millennials are all grown up. Now, more than ever, people are feeling an urge to reminisce. With 90’s nostalgia in full swing and talks of a Spice Girls reunion circulating online, there happens to be a new group in town that aims to satisfy the world’s absolute craving for SPICE!

Wannabe is the brainchild of Suzy Wilde, Barbara Johnston, Anika Johnson, Catherine Merriam and Jasmyn Fyffe. The idea for the group was born one summer when the five best friends (all professional Toronto-based performers) all happened to be living under the same roof. They recruited six excellent musicians to be their back-up band and brought in a team of production staff to help polish the group. After studying concert footage, working with a dialect coach, lifting choreography, arranging/charting the songs and rehearsing for several months, Wannabe was ready to hit the stage for what they thought would be a single show.

Five years later, the shows continue to grow. Wannabe has travelled across North America, playing theatres, concert halls, clubs, casinos, outdoor festivals and campus stages, constantly adding new material, costume changes, dance moves and bits of banter between numbers. The girls have been approached by event organizers worldwide, and have been offered appearances on The Steve Harvey Show and The Ex Factor. From celebrity hosts to gospel choirs, every show offers something new.

Featured Ontario Festivals

This is it! These are them!

Our annual list of Best Festivals, or as we call it around the office “The Bestivals” list.

We pick a new list each year, some are hosted by our advertisers, some festivals we have sponsored and well, some we think are just plain pretty cool.

The list has been assembled keeping in consideration current trends and what people out there really seem to be seeking out. We’ve tried to include events and festivals that might be family focused, adult focused, or both!
