If you are looking for a little more activity, then why not get out on one of our free rental canoes or kayaks to paddle about the lake for awhile. Stretching over 2 miles in length and home to several nice bays, you never know what will turn up around the next bay. Better yet, you can even easily link up with a series of three other lakes. After passing through the culvert onto Trout Lake, short portages are needed to continue south into Buch and Kulas Lakes. For the adventurous, this is a good day trip, while the area is riddled with fabulous canoe routes. Family raft trips and kayaking is offered at the Madawaska Kanu Centre, while all paddlers can take advantage of the services of Algonquin Bound Outfitters found nearby Algonquin Bound Outfitters.

GUIDED CANOE TRIPS
Are you intrigued by what the fur traders and Voyageurs experienced during their early expeditions? Explore the French River as they did so many years ago with our ORCKA-certified canoe guide to take you there. These trips are ideal for any level paddler with your expert guide to provide cultural and natural history information — and teach or review paddling techniques along the way. The French River is unique in that the current is not noticeable either upstream or down, and rapids can easily be avoided, viewed from the shore, or quickly portaged. The perfect venue for both beginner and experienced paddlers. Book a private trip and set your own pace and agenda in advance or as you go. All necessary gear is provided. A scrumptious gourmet picnic lunch is included on full-day trips. On half-day trips, book a Lodge lunch, picnic lunch, or 3-course dinner before or after your adventure and regale us with tales of wildlife sightings and your discoveries.

Over 100 years ago in July of 1917, Canada’s most famous landscape artist died on Canoe Lake. This is an opportunity to travel by canoe to the sites where Thomson lived, painted and died on Canoe Lake. Our Lodge Naturalist will accompany you as you follow in the footsteps of Tom Thomson, over 100 years after his passing.
This Package includes 2 tickets to the McMichael Canadian Collection to view their work by Tom Thomson OR 2 tickets to the National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa to view their collection of Thomson paintings. Includes all meals and accommodation and is available Sunday to Thursday. This Package must be booked at least two weeks in advance of your arrival. Alternate transportation may be arranged. HAILSTORM CREEK WILDLIFE VIEWING
Bring your cameras and binoculars to capture that first glimpse of a moose or beaver, because our 2 night package includes a day trip to Algonquin Park’s finest wildlife viewing area – Hailstorm Creek at Lake Opeongo. Start your day with our country-style, hearty breakfast, and then make your way to Algonquin Outfitters Opeongo Store where a water taxi will escort you, all equipment (canoes or kayaks and life jackets included) to Hailstorm Creek. Spend your day exploring the nature reserve, taking in water birds like the Heron and Loon, birds of prey, and song birds. Enjoy packed lunch on us. You are picked up by water taxi in the late afternoon and returned to the Opeongo Store to complete your day.

We offer comfortable housekeeping cottages with fireplaces. Ski or snowshoe our 20 km of groomed trails from your door. Snowmobile trail access is easy and we have fuel on site. 20 minutes to all the trails and activities at both Arrowhead and Algonquin Prov. Parks. Rates vary and are PER COTTAGE. For example a 2 bedroom cottage for the weekend (up to 5 people) would be $660.00 A couples rate of $160.00 per night, (two night minimum) is also available mid week as space permits. A great way to spend a romantic night in front of a fireplace with a bottle of wine! Some nights you can hear the wolves howling to each other if you step outside.
