Each year tens of thousands of visitors flock to Midland, Ontario to taste the best of the best butter tarts in the province. Our butter tart contest draws professional and home bakers from all over the province to compete for the title ‘Best Butter Tart in Ontario’. Over the years, audiences have come to love watching the butter tart contest, tasting along with our panel of judges so they too can be a part of the experience.
Along with our contest comes a day of sweet activities. Lots of fantastic artisan vendors and live entertainment fill the day, making it a great experience for festival visitors. Johnston’s Cranberry Marsh is home to Muskoka Lakes Winery, serving wines crafted from local fruit native to Muskoka.
Our winery is open daily, year round and the Bog to Bottle Discovery experience is offered every day at 11am, 1pm, and 3pm. McLean Berry Farm is a family owned and operated strawberry and vegetable farm located in the heart of the Kawartha Lakes Area in south-eastern Ontario. Visitors are welcome to visit the farms and take part in the delicious Ontario tradition of seasonal berry picking (and eating!).
