Located on the shores of Georgian Bay in Penetanguishene, the King’s Wharf Theatre is a only 45 minute drive from Collingwood, Barrie and Orillia. Nestled within Discovery Harbour, the 385-seat theatre is flanked by majestic tall ships and historic buildings . This unique theatre is operated by award-winning Drayton Entertainment, a registered not-for-profit charitable organization and one of Canada’s most successful professional theatre companies.
Each year Drayton Entertainment present the finest in live theatre to over 250,000 patrons across Ontario at the original Drayton Festival Theatre, Huron Country Playhouse and Playhouse II in Grand Bend, King’s Wharf Theatre in Penetanguishene, Dunfield Theatre in Cambridge and St. Jacobs Country Playhouse and the Schoolhouse Theatre in St. Jacobs.
2018 Season at King’s Wharf Theatre
This year marks our 61st Anniversary and we’ve added a new triple loop spinning coaster to celebrate! Visit us at our unique 60-acre attraction nestled in a bend of the Muskoka River and be the first to ride our Peppermint Penguin spinny coaster. You can also tour the village by miniature train or cruise the Muskoka River on Santa’s Summer Sleigh Jet Boat. You can try Rudolph’s Roller Coaster, the Ferris Wheel, and other amusement rides! Visit Santa Claus and then play at Elves Island, try our Elf Sky Challenge or have some fun at our beach and splash-pad. You can also enjoy live Amphitheatre shows with clowns, magicians and roving entertainers! Santa’s Village is like Christmas in the summer! Muskoka Zip Lines & Aerial Park
Muskoka is soaring to new heights in 2017 with Muskoka Zip Lines and Aerial park. Visiting groups coming to Discovery Harbour are welcomed by knowledgeable friendly costumed staff that will take your active clients on an indepth walking tour of this beautiful historic site. Your clients can enjoy above and below deck tours of the replica of H.M.S. Tecumseth based on her 1815 log, and see her original 1815 hull remains in the spectacular new H.M.S. Tecumseth Centre, complete will all-new exhibits and displays. Guided tours are available in English and French. Visiting groups coming to Sainte-Marie among the Hurons marvel at a world that existed over 370 years ago. This impressive reconstruction takes you back in time to a story of cultural contact, determination, drama, and survival. Your group will explore the historic site and get a sense of the challenges that were faced by those who founded and worked at this famous mission. Active demonstrations by historically-costumed staff provide insight into 17th century European and Native culture, lifestyle, and technology.
Throughout July and August, Sainte-Marie among the Hurons is pleased to offer fun and informative demonstrations and “hands-on” activities that share aspects of life in the 17th century. These include listening to 17th century music, trying fire-starting techniques, making clay okis, learning about medicine, playing Native games, along with historic cooking, and more. Additional activities for children may feature quill pen writing and making corn husk figures.
