The fall harvest season presents many opportunities to discover rural Ontario farms and farmers’ markets where colourful displays of pumpkins can be purchased in anticipation of Thanksgiving and Halloween.

Live entertainment, barnyard animals, mazes (a straw bale maze and 2 corn mazes, one of them is haunted), pumpkin bowling, junior spook barn, bonesville cemetery, pumpkin patch wagon rides and the famous pumpkin cannon.

You’ll have a whole lot of pumpkin fun – seed spitting, pie eating contest, pumpkin bowling, pumpkin basketball, pumpkin rolling and more… Plus have a blast on our jumping pillows, zip lines, pedal cart racetrack, barrel train rides, pony rides, petting zoo, duck races, ‘Cornfusions’ corn maze, buckin’ bronco, etc. Enjoy a wagon ride out to the pumpkin patch to pick your FREE pumpkin. Lots of sizes, shapes and colours of pumpkins to choose from.

Some farms incorporate kids activities including hay rides, pumpkin tossing, and pumpkin carving. Fall months also offer fall fairs and festivals where visitors can discover colourful fall leaves, visit a fair and a pumpkin farm all on a day road trip north in Ontario.

Old Fort Road Pumpkin Route
Discover Simcoe County backroads on an Old Fort Road Trip to Midland during the fall months to Autumn Harvest Farms where you can see a large pumpkin patch and pick from the many sized pumpkins for your Thanksgiving or Halloween Fun. Access Simcoe County road 58 from Highway 12 or Moonstone Road…via Highway 400 to Highway 93. See Highway 400 North.
The Barrie Highway 400, 93, 11 Hillsdale, Dalston, Pumpkin Routes:
Brown’s Farm in Dalston, Mertz Farms in Hillsdale, Chappell Farms (North of Barrie).
Proceed North of Barrie on Highway 400 to Highway 93. Take 93 North to Hillsdale. Look for the sign Mertz Farms. Go back on 93 and Proceed South over the 400 and continue towards Barrie until you reach County Road 11 at Dalston. Look for sign Brown’s Farm. Proceed East again to Chappell Farms at the North west Corner of Highway 93 and Highway 11. After leaving Chappell Farms proceed South on Highway 11 to Highway 400 South towards Toronto.

The Highway 26, Mansfield, Stayner, Egbert Alliston Pumpkin Route:
Fernwood Farms & Market in Stayner, Brown’s Farm in Dalston and Drysdale Tree Farms in Egbert (South of Barrie). Suggested Itinerary: Travel north on Highway 400 to Highway 89 through Alliston to County Road 18. Turn right on to County Road 18 north to Mansfield. Take county road 18 north to Highway 9, cross over Highway 9 continuing north where 18 changes to County Road 42. Proceed north to Stayner. Look for signs for Fernwood. Leave Stayner on Highway 26 East toward Barrie. Proceed East on 26 to County Road 10 turn right or south on 10 to Angus. Take Highway 90 East towards Barrie and turn right at County Road 56, and proceed South until you see the Sign for Drysdale Tree Farm.

The Port Elgin—Lake Huron Pumpkin Route
This route is a spectacular fall route covering the Grey Bruce Counties, the Blue Mountains, Beaver Valley, Georgian Bay, Lake Huron, Saugeen Shores, the Niagara Escarpment and the Ontario Farmlands. The Port Elgin Pumpkin Festival is a fun family event and may see a world record pumpkin on display.
A suggested fall route and colour drive to the Port Elgin starts in Collingwood Ontario on Highway 26 west. Take Highway 26 to Highway 26 through Thornbury, Meaford to Owen Sound. Proceed west on county road 21 to Southhampton and south to Port Elgin.
Lanark County Pumpkin Route
Come and experience this year’s Crown & Pumpkin Studio Tour in the towns of Clayton, Blakeney, Almonte, and Mississippi Mills in beautiful Lanark County!
This Thanksgiving weekend, October 8 to 10, discover the quality craftsmanship and skill of local artists amidst the vibrant colours that define our fall season. During the Tour, studios are open from 10 am to 5 pm. Admission is free!
