The AWRS’s Tim Winegard in partnership with renowned naturalist, expedition guide and photographer Robin Tapley and Jamie Giardini have developed new programs to highlight wildlife research in Algonquin Park. Programs will focus on developing an understanding of wildlife life-history strategies (biology, ecology, behaviour) and how this can benefit ones photographic, naturalist, or other outdoor pursuits.

Strap on your snowshoes for a night-time hike, where stars and shadows create a dramatic setting for adventure. Professional staff members guide your group on a 1 ½ to 2 hour romp through an enchanting winter wonderland. Experience beautiful trails that wind through a mature forest of 100 foot tall trees, sparkling views of the countryside at the Suspension Bridge and breathtaking lookouts from the top of the Niagara Escarpment. No experience is required and the pace is moderate. Recommended for ages 8-10 and older.

Have your children enjoy 3 days of children’s programs at Abbey Gardens! Each day will be different and will include a day of outdoor exploration and fun activities, Abbey Gardens’ style!  Participate in all three day programs offered or choose individual programs:  “Where the Wild Things Roam!”, “Kids in the Kitchen” and “Outdoor Kids”. Looking for something fun, active and local for your kids to do on March Break? The Wye Marsh keeps things natural, for kids ages 6-12; we provide activities such as cross country skiing, snowshoeing, orienteering, GPS navigation, bannock roasting, live animal demonstrations (birds of prey, reptiles and amphibians, trumpeter swans), feeding chickadees and crafts etc. Ages 6-12
