Family Day coincides with Canada Heritage Day, and Ontario Heritage week. BC, Saskatchewan and Alberta join Ontario and celebrate Family Day as a public holiday.

Ontario Family Ice Fishing Weekend

This year Family Fishing Weekend is February 16-18, 2019 is designated as OFFW license-free fishing days. During all other periods, most Canadian residents between the ages of 18 and 64 years must purchase an OUTDOORS card and a fishing license to legally fish in Ontario. Backyard Bird Count Family Day Weekend

The annual Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) is coming up on the February 16-19, 2018 long weekend on Canada Heritage Day and Family Day Weekend in Ontario. The four-day event is free and is open to bird watchers of all ages and skill levels. Participants watch birds for any length of time on one or more days of the count and enter their tallies. The GBBC is a joint North American project of the National Audubon Society and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology with Canadian partner Bird Studies Canada.

Guided by regional artist Christyn Grampola, families will construct an accordion-fold book and illustrate the cover and pages with their favourite family story using mixed-media collage and watercolour painting techniques.

The tournament is held over Family Day long weekend, and no fishing license is required to participate. We encourage families, kids and fisherman of all skill levels to attend. Our trails, Food Hub, educational displays and local business partners (including a craft brewery) are all located on site in the beautiful Haliburton Highlands, Ontario overlooking Grass Lake. Winterstock
Winterstock is Lindystock’s chillier, whisky-loving sister-event. Each winter, dancers head north to the borders of historic Algonquin Park near Huntsville, Ontario for dancing, outdoor activities, a variety show and so much more.

Huronia Museum is located in Midland, Ontario, Canada. It features a replica of a “pre-contact” Huron/Ouendat village, including a lookout tower, wigwam and a full-size longhouse.The museum also features an exhibit gallery featuring tens of thousands of historic artifacts ranging from photographs, native archaeology and art by members of the Group of Seven, and others.
