Ontario Maple Syrup Festivals aren’t the only sweet thing happening this spring. Canada’s best maple syrup products come from the naturally beautiful areas of Ontario and to say it is celebrated is putting it mildly. Maple lovers can find festivals, events, activities and all kinds of promotions with the same sweet theme putting maple on the map, literally. Below we’ve included a big big list of all kinds of maple possibilities.

Tap into Maple

Ontario’s Lake Country
March 1 – May 31, 2018
Starting on March 1st and running through to May 31st, the Tap into Maple route was created to support and showcase our local maple syrup, maple products and events. Filled with a variety of different stops throughout the region, the Tap into Maple route will get your senses flowing and your mouth watering. Come and experience our maple history, taste our local maple cuisine, and create your own maple products. You can even stay awhile, our local accommodators have some sweet maple packages available for you! Bring your family or getaway as a couple, Ontario’s Lake Country has something for everyone.

Make sure to pick-up your Tap into Maple passport at participating locations. Upon purchase or participation at each location you will be rewarded with a maple stamp on your brochure. Collect at least three punches and submit your passport for a chance to win local Maple Products and an overnight stay, value of $500.

Sweetwater Harvest Festival

Escape to a time when maple syrup was made over an open fire, experience our history and explore nature at its best. The festival celebrates the history of maple syrup, and the role it plays in our cultural and natural heritage. Sweetwater is not your average maple syrup festival. Yes there are sugar shack tours, pancakes and taffy tasting, but there is so much more to the weekend long festival. There are birds of prey and reptile/amphibian talks; wilderness survival, cooking and woodcarving demos; and of course chickadee feeding.

Annual Buckhorn Maplefest

At Maplefest, there are a ton of fun activities for the entire family. Whether it’s going for a wagon ride, eating pancakes with fresh maple syrup or seeing how the sweet stuff is made, there is something to do for everyone! Kids and kids at heart love tapping their toes and swinging their hips to live music, trying their hand at tapping a maple tree and testing their toffee on snow twirling skills to get a taste of the sweet stuff!

Farm animals and fresh straw offer playtime for some, while others prefer to take a stroll through the sugar bush with a pair of snowshoes. Whatever it is you’re looking for this spring, McLean’s Maplefest is a great way for everyone to shake off a long winter and enjoy the celebration of springs arrival.

The sap is a runnin’. Experience the world of the maple tree and its bounty with this “sweet” three day adventure in the Haliburton Highlands. Discover the art and science of producing maple syrup by participating in traditional and modern day maple syrup operations, exploring a sugar bush on snowshoes, dining on maple cuisine, visiting Moon Shadow Estate Winery to taste their signature maple wine, indulging in a Maple Sugar spa foot treatment, and creating your own maple syrup pitcher and amber coloured glass art in a glassblowing workshop at Artech Studio. You will stay at the Inukshuk Manor B&B where your hosts, Brian and Dorothy Menton produce their own maple syrup. This package also features a house concert.

The town of Elmvale transforms into an outdoor mall with streets filled with vendors offering all things maple including syrup, all types of delicious food, books, collectables and other treasures. Make sure to stop by the Sugar Shack information booth for directions & tickets for the bus to the sugarbush tours, and get a copy of the Festival Directory. Plan a visit to the Community Hall, you can’t miss it, you’ll smell the delicious aroma of pancakes and sausages – our all day pancake breakfast, a must for all visitors. Enjoy the flea market and craft tables as well as a colouring contest and crafts as well as Free Public Skating from 12PM to 2PM across the road at the arena! $3 for children 10 and under. $6 for adults.
