Expansion Completed on Highway 11 Gateway to Northern Ontario

August 2012: Ontario has completed a major expansion of Highway 11 between North Bay and Huntsville on schedule in time for the fall colour road trip season. The new four-lane highway will make travel easier and safer for families and businesses and will strengthen tourism and the economy in the North. Beat the Barrie area Gridlock on Highway 400 & 11

Summer heat gets even hotter if you are tied up in stop and go traffic at Highway 400 and 11.  Our suggestion is to cool off with a side trip into Barrie and a quick swim at one of three downtown Barrie Beaches on Lake Simcoe.  Take HWY 93 into Barrie from Highway 11 & Highway 400 and turn at Johnson Street for Johnson Beach;  Off of Highway 400 take Bayfield Street towards the lake for Centennial Beach, or take Huronia Road (10th side road from Innisfil) to Minets Point Beach.  Enjoy  a snack, lunch or dinner, and relax a little before heading back out.  See more tips for avoiding Barrie gridlock.

Aecon Awarded $64 million in Highway Contracts

Under a $29 million contract with the Ontario Ministry of Transportation, Aecon will upgrade the northbound lanes of Hwy 400 along a 16.2 km stretch, from Hwy 11 to Hwy 93 north of Barrie.
